The Drawback To Using Chord Charts

Below is a lead sheet for the first four measures of Misty. The
Piano Pop Chart for this is available here if you are interested. A chord chart is provided below that for each of the chords that you see there.

A point I would like to make here is this: many people are in the habit of learning chords in this manner: 1) look up the chord on a piano chart; 2) play the chord as you see it; 3) play the melody with the chord.

There's nothing totally wrong with this approach... but here's what happens:

1) You train yourself to be reliant on an external resource

2) By doing so, you reinforce the false need for such a tool as a chord chart

3) This habit reinforces the false idea that you are not capable of playing these chords on your own

I would like to encourage you to "break the chains" as soon as possible. It's a whole different world when you can play those chords "on command" just by looking at the sheet music - it saves time, your confidence soars, and you have more fun! I'm sure you can understand this.

It's quite easy to put yourself on the right track by learning how to play these 7th chords that you see below (and others) "on command"... you can do this. It involves exposing yoursellf to the simple process of recognizing the visual distinctions between the different 7th chords. The program that will change things for you is The Ridiculously Easy Way To Master Those 7th Chords On The Piano. I encourage you to get involved... you will learn how to play ten(10) different types of 7th chords, and you will experience for yourself how ridiculously easy this really is!

Chord charts may seem like the "quick fix" for the moment... but using them on a regular basis really prevents you from the kind of mastery that you are indeed capable of if you will simply expose yourself to a better way. Get involved with this and know what chord mastery feels like!
